2016 Event Recap

The second Let’s Put the Femme in STEM event at the University of Denver saw 60 girls aged 9-13 from 6 schools in the Denver area through a fun-filled day of science and discovery.

Local girls built catapults, unraveled math mysteries, solved chemistry crimes, and much, much more. We hosted 6 in-depth activities in the morning, focusing on engineering, math, chemistry, computer science, evolutionary biology, and physics. Each activity was led by DU undergraduate and graduate students and attendees got a taste (pun intended!) of DU life having lunch in the dormitory cafeterias in between the morning activities and the afternoon science fair.

During the science fair, girls got to show their friends what they did in their respective activities and explore what each of the other activities did in the morning. Attendees got to show off their newfound science knowledge, as well as cast a wider net in exploring everything STEM has to offer. We loved getting to host girls from around the city, and we look forward to hosting more young women at our next event on May 13! Want to join the fun? Registration for the next event will open soon, check the ‘registration’ tab for updates!
