FemmeInSTEM’s
2026 Invention Convention
FemmeInSTEM’s 2026 Invention Convention is affiliated with the California Invention Convention and the U.S. National Invention Convention. FemmeInSTEM’s Invention Convention represents students from the Tri-City Area of Union City, Fremont, and Newark, with a special emphasis on underrepresented student populations and Title 1 schools.
On March 28th, 2026, the judges will meet with the inventors at our convention, review the Invention, Invention Log, Display Board, and listen to the inventor (or invention team) present their invention. The scoring is done after the individual judgings. Winners and special awards will then be announced at our awards ceremony and the results will be posted on our website shortly after.
The winners selected will then be entered to participate in the 2026 Northern California Regional Invention Convention, which will take place in person on April 18th, 2026 at the California State Railroad Museum.
How do I participate in FemmeInSTEM’s 2026 Invention Convention?
Registration is by invitation only. Students who have submitted the participation interest google form will review an email from femmeinstemca@gmail.com after a brief overview of the project idea. Registration and application guides will be emailed to students who have submitted the google form.
Last Day to submit Participation Interest Google Form: Februrary 21st, 2026 11:59 PST
After receiving the email from our board, participants will begin working on their project and filling out the General Application paperwork. The General Application paperwork must be submitted by March 14th, 2026 to participate in the 2026 FemmeInSTEM Invention Convention.
The General Application includes (as dictated by the California Invention Convention Rules):
– A picture of the student (profile picture)
– 1-6 pictures of the invention or the student with the invention.
– A PDF of the Invention Log or Journal
– A 4-6 minute video
as well as additional paperwork which will be sent by email after students complete the Participation Interest Google Form.
Each inventor or team must have an actual invention – either a prototype or a working invention. Just a good idea is not enough for this convention – there need to be a physical invention and inventing process presented to judges.
Teams are limited to 4 members.
All students who go to school or are homeschooled in Union City, Fremont, and Newark are eligible to enter. If you are unsure if you are eligible to enter, please email femmeinstemca@gmail.com.
All projects must follow the Rules and Regulations as dictated by the California Invention Convention:
